About this book
How the Writings from Adam Came to Levi, and How the Sons of Tzadok Kept Them to the Days of Yeshua Short description Who kept the word before it reached us? The line of keepers from Adam to Levi, from Levi to the sons of Tzadok, and from the caves by the Dead Sea to the day Yeshua unrolled the scroll. Contents and details Who kept the word before it reached us? “And he gave all his books and the books of his fathers to Levi his son that he might preserve them and renew them for his children until this day” (Yovelim 45:16). So the book of Yovelim tells of Ya’akov, and so begins the story of the keepers. The Most High did not leave His word to chance. The Keepers of the Word traces the line of those who received it and handed it on: * Before the flood: Adam, taught by the Most High; Shet and the two pillars; Chanokh, the scribe of righteousness, who gave his books to Metushelach; and the charge handed down to Noach. * After the flood: Noach’s book and the blessing of Shem; Ever and the tongue of the fathers; Avraham, who kept the charge before Sinai; and the books carried in the tents of Yitzchaq and Ya’akov. * Levi, the chosen custodian: why Levi was chosen, the books given to him, the inheritance kept by Qehat and Amram in Mitzrayim, and Moshe the Levite, who laid the Torah in the hands of the priests. * In the land: Pinchas and the covenant of peace, Tzadok and the sure house, the book found in the Temple, and the sons of Tzadok who kept the charge when Yisra’el went astray. * The Second Temple: Ezra the scribe, Shimon the Righteous and the house of Onias, the sale of the high priesthood, and the library the faithful hid in the caves by the Dead Sea. * In the days of Yeshua: Zecharyah, Elisheva and Yochanan the Immerser, and Yeshua, who said “it is written” and in whom the kept word was made flesh. The book answers, plainly and fairly, the voices from the global north that say nothing was written before the flood. It marks honestly where Scripture speaks, where tradition remembers and where scholars disagree. It builds the chain on what the texts say was handed on, not on overlapping lifespans, and sets the three chronologies side by side. Each chapter closes with a Chain of Keepers table naming the keeper, the time, what was kept and the witness. Appendices give the whole chain, the line of Tzadok, the three chronologies, the books of the chain found at Qumran and answers to common questions. “For the priest’s lips should keep knowledge” (Malakhi 2:7). The keepers kept the word so that the Word could be known. The only name to be called upon is Yeshua HaMashiach, the Savior of the children of Adam. Contents: Preface: Who Kept the Word?
